Tour news

If at first you don't succeed, try another 73 times.

Sergio Garcia was playing in his 74th Major as he claimed The Masters title on Sunday and he was certainly a popular champion. Sergio is blessed with enormous talent, but always lacked the putting ability and mental strength to get over the line in one of the 'big 4' events. Despite missing a relatively short putt to win in regulation time, he finally silenced all his doubters by making birdie in the 1st playoff hole to beat Justin Rose.

A few years ago, Garcia was a vice-captain at the Ryder Cup. This was so disappointing to see, as a player so talented had lost all desire to compete and hadn't qualified for the team. It is great to see him back to his best and getting the reward that his career has so richly deserved.

Last week I moaned about golf doing things the wrong way and discouraging people from taking up the game with the rules fiasco. This week is a lot more positive. The sportsmanship and camaraderie shown by Justin Rose was a fantastic example for any kids watching the golf last week. To be so genuinely happy for a fellow competitor despite being pipped at the 73rd hole was one of the things that makes golf such a great sport. It was also just a gentle reminder to us all that we should enjoy the game and not get too upset over it.

Pros news

Easter Junior Coaching

This week has seen our first Easter Junior Coaching since I came to the club and it's been very encouraging to see the kids back out again so early in the year. The blue tees will be moved forward again and we will be having regular junior medals this summer.

If you have any family or friends with children that might be interested in taking the game up, then please get them to contact the Pro Shop staff and we can give them all the info that they need.

Shop news

Motocaddy hire trollies

Our fleet of Motocaddy hire trollies have arrived at the club this week.

These are available to all members and visitors. We will also offer you a 'courtesy' trolley if a trolley you have purchased from us is faulty.

We will give you full use of this trolley until your own one is repaired for FREE.

No online store will offer you this service.

Click and Collect

Keep your eyes peeled for new offers that will be displayed on our new A board outside the shop. In the meantime, don't forget that anything you order online at www.foremostgolf.com can be collected from the Pro Shop. This saves any hassle of waiting in for the delivery and having to deal with all that cardboard when it arrives; as your friendly local Pro Shop staff will do all that for you.

Battery Trade In

Motocaddy are currently running their annual battery trade in deal.

Bring in your old lead acid battery and trade it in against a brand new lithium one and receive £25 off. Motocaddy lithium batteries come with a 5 year warranty, are incredibly lightweight and take less time to charge.

Is it time to change?

Course news

Course update

The recent dry spell has made a fantastic difference to the course as I'm sure many of you have noticed. The ground is firmer underfoot and there are small signs of growth. David and his staff are currently cutting and shaping the course and it is starting to look great.
Unfortunately there is still a distinct lack of growth with the soil temperature remaining low and this is causing the greens to be slightly bumpy.

They are being rolled on a regular basis to iron them out but they will not be as smooth as we want until proper growth really sets in. As always, please repair divots and pitchmarks at all times.
