First round of 2017

My first round of golf in 2017 finally took place on Saturday and I couldn't have picked a better venue than the host course of the 2016 Open Championship, Royal Troon. My golf clubs have been used on a couple of occasions this year by members that forgot their own, (I mean, really, who goes to golf and forgets their clubs?!) but it was good to get back out and use them myself over 18 holes.

Although it was a fun day out, there was also a competitive edge to it, as the 'young team' took on the 'old guys'.

My partner and I were level par through 8 holes and 5 down, as our opponents continued to make pars everywhere whilst getting strokes!

Despite the hammering in the team event, I managed to finish 4/12 in the individual event which wasn't a bad achievement considering it was my first full round of the year. Hopefully this is the start of me golfing a lot more regularly now.

I opened my big mouth last week about our lack of rainfall and it came back with a vengeance at the start of the week as rain poured down at the golf club all day. However, I'll use this opportunity to remind you of the merits of investing in a waterproof golf bag.

Mizuno Fitting Day

We have Mizuno coming to the club on Friday 9th June. They will have all the latest equipment and Trackman Radar launch monitor. This is a fantastic opportunity to get fitted for a new set of irons or woods from one of the leading club manufacturers in the world. Appointments are available from 11am with the last one being 2.30pm (each fitting is 30mins). Contact the Pro Shop to book in.

A few of our ladies section went to Auchterarder GC on Friday to play in the Ladies Open and I'm delighted to report back that Marie McLellan won the event with a nett 61! An incredible score from Marie, congratulations!
