After a tense 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Scottish Premiership Play-Off Semi Final, I endured listening to Falkirk fans come into the Pro Shop and tell me all about how they were heading through to the final after a great performance and result away to Dundee United. As a season ticket holder at Tannadice, I've kept my mouth shut as I know only too well that you can be left looking a bit silly after making such bold predictions. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the loudmouth Falkirk fans for making my 5am rise on Saturday morning that little bit easier :)
It obviously goes without saying that there will be no mention of the final in next week's newsletter if the right team doesn't win…
The temperature's rising
The temperatures have significantly risen this week and short sleeves weather is here. Is your wardrobe starting to look a bit dated? Then why not freshen it up with something more colourful and modern. We have the latest range of polo shirts from Glenmuir, Mizuno, Stuburt & Sunice in stock. All products are priced at under £40 and, as always, there are special multibuy offers.
Club Championship qualifiers
Saturday was the 2nd of our Club Championship qualifiers and the weather wasn't overly kind to us. We did have over 75% of the field complete their round though. Therefore, the competition needs to stand as a counting event. Due to the nature of the admin work to produce aggregate scores, the scores were not published by the time I had to complete my newsletter content. I apologise that the scores could not be included this week.
It was the ladies first round of the Club Championship qualifiers on Friday and the May Medal. Please see the results below:
Silver Winner: Jean Hillis - 72
Bronze Winner & May Medal Winner: Rosemarie McAtamney - 70
The ladies section had a team match in the Craigalbert league v Dullatur at home on Monday. Unfortunately this was abandoned due to heavy rain, thunder & lightening.
The bonus ball this week was won by Iain Boyd - £59 shop credit
Ladies Open Tri-Am
This Sunday is our Ladies Tri-Am Open. We still have a few spots left in this. If you have any family / friends / colleagues that are golfers but are members elsewhere, then please pass this information onto them as they may be interested in playing. Entry is £30 per team and bookings can be made via the visitors online booking section on the club website.
The Puttery
This Friday is the May edition of The Puttery Supper. There are only a few spaces left for this. If you wish to book a table, then please contact The Puttery on 01259 730396 (opt 3) or info@theputtery.co.uk
Course update
The greenstaff have been out recently re-edging all the bunkers and filling some up with more sand. The bunkers have been criticised in the past for not having enough sand. This is an issue that is being dealt with, but we must remind you that there can be a perception that are is a lack of sand due to poor raking. A lot of people will pull sand away from the centre of the bunker and give the impression that the bunker is bare. Please rake bunkers from the edge and pull sand into the middle.
New paths have been cut from each tee through to the fairway and new targets have now been cut on the practice area. I know I bang on about it a lot, but I can't stress enough just how good this facility is.
