Welcome to another exciting edition of our weekly newsletter. This week we will be looking at the reasons as to why so many players are switching to a counterbalanced putter, and highlight a few impressive features of some of the wedges that we have in-store. Enjoy the read.

Pro's Day

Pro’s Day is fast approaching and there are still a few slots left.

If you are on your own and don’t have a partner, please get in touch ASAP. There are always others looking for a game and we will be able to team you up with another member.  This competition is open to all categories of membership.

Can I please ask that you continue to pay the entry fee before the day of the competition? This allows us to get all the food, drink & prizes ordered in advance.

I am looking for a few volunteers to help me run the drinks stand at the 10th tee on the day. If you could spare a couple of hours at any point between 9.00am & 4.30pm then please get in touch with the Pro Shop staff.

We will be hosting a fitting day for Wilson Staff products on Wednesday, 9 August.

Appointments are free and available between 11am & 3pm.

Club Crested pullovers

We’ve taken delivery of some club crested sleeveless pullovers this week in the Pro Shop.

These come in a variety of colours and are great quality at only £59.

As always, we can order in any colour/size that we do not have in stock.

Coffee Machine

It was another busy, productive week in the Pro Shop and I can finally reveal the news that many of you have been eagerly anticipating.

Our coffee machine now accepts the new £1 coin!!

There is, fortunately, no need to dig down the back of the sofa looking for change or an old style £1 coin anymore.

What a relief!

What is a counterbalanced putter?

Many of you will have heard the term ‘counterbalanced’ used regarding putters over the past few years, but what exactly does this mean and how could one benefit your game? Here we explain all…

THE BENEFITS OF COUNTERBALANCING

With counterbalanced putters the key change is heavier heads, which help fight twisting to make your stroke more accurate. This head weight alone would ruin feel, so another difference is extra mass above your hands in the butt of the grip, which balances the feel of the putter.

This Odyssey O-Works Tank #7 is a great example. It comes in a number of lengths up to 38” and has a heavier shaft to aid a more consistent stroke. Aside from that, a Microhinge Insert enhances topspin at impact for a smooth forward roll with great feel.
