Slow Play

Every Saturday I am met with disgruntled members over how long the Saturday Medals are taking. Anything over 3hrs 45mins is becoming too long around a course like ours at 6,000 yards. Some medals recently have been over 4 hours as early as 9am and this is unacceptable. Please try and follow some of the basic steps below to ensure that medal times can be reduced for the remainder of this year and into 2018:

• If there is any doubt that you will not find your ball, hit a provisional.
• If you have lost space on the game in front, wave the game behind through.
• If you are looking for a golf ball and the game behind is waiting, wave them through.
• Mark up your scorecard on the next tee when one of your playing partners is teeing off, not on the green when everyone has finished putting out.
• Know your distances. Golfers are hitting their driver 180 yards and are waiting for the green to clear that is still over 200 yards away!
• Leave all trollies/bags somewhere convenient to the next tee, not in front of the green that you are putting on.

The difference the small things make on a round can be massive, please think of others when on the golf course and not just yourself. I know the vast majority of you are not at fault, but hopefully you can help educate those that fall foul of some of the above.

Course Maintenance

Due to the poor weather last week, the greens were scarified and top dressed instead of the scheduled, essential coring work that is required. This has been rescheduled for week commencing 18th September. I’m sure you can all appreciate how important this work is given the significant amount of rainfall that we’ve had during the last few months.
