Just in case you hadn’t heard/read/seen, football is apparently coming home. As this newsletter lands in your inbox, England will just be about to kick off against Croatia in the World Cup Semi Final. I was born a long time after 1966, but I feel like I know events from that year better than any of the years that I’ve been alive, so I’m sure that you will also hope, like me, that the next 50 years aren’t spent hearing about 2018! On to more positive news, it was great to see Scotland produce a European Tour winner on Sunday for the first time since 2015. The putt that Russell Knox holed on the 18th, from around 40 feet, was nothing short of sensational, however, to repeat it again in the first play off hole was truly unbelievable. After a 2nd place finish in France last week and then winning the Irish Open, hopefully we might even see Knox in the Ryder Cup squad in September which would be great. With David Law winning on the Challenge Tour the week before, Scottish Golf might be starting to turn a corner with players returning to the winner’s circle at the top level again. |
