Club news

Our new topless model is now available for hire

Unfortunately, one of our buggies had a fault that the company couldn’t repair on site and have swapped it for another buggy for the remainder of the season.

At this stage of the year, they don’t have any left with roofs, so you may get wet (if we ever get rain again!) if you hire a buggy over the next couple of months.

Ronnie Paterson

This week I’ll be turning my focus towards the huge changes that Ronnie Paterson has been making in his swing. Ronnie has chosen to commit his time to improving and to ensure that he doesn’t lose interest in the game over the next few years if there are no signs of progression. We’re only a few weeks in to Ronnie’s long term plan, but the changes in his swing are fantastic and the signs of progress are there for all to see. Well done, Ronnie.

Course news

Bunkers on the course

As many of you have noticed, our bunkers are struggling at the moment. This is due to the sand drying out too much and a lack of lining in the bunkers which allows stones to come through from underneath. The club are working towards a long-term solution to this problem, so we would ask that you bear with us until we have some options on the table to offer the membership. The team have been working hard this week removing stones from the bunkers and topping them up with sand. This is, however, only a temporary fix to the issue.

It's good to push

Roll, roll, roll the ball

For many golf fans, this week is the most exciting of the year as the world’s best players head to the British Isles for The Open Championship at Carnoustie. Links golf throws up several unique challenges that many tour pros don’t experience all too often, the greens being a classic example.

Unlike driving off the tee or hitting into greens when they have to consider the wind, club selection and much more, on the greens, like Carnoustie’s 18th (above), all the pros have to worry about is line and speed. The latter relies on getting the ball rolling quickly and smoothly, which is helped by the faces on modern putters.

The Wilson Staff Infinite South Side for example, has a Double Milled Face pattern that promotes a smooth roll, which aids distance control and helps the ball to stay on line. All of this adds up to giving you more chance to hole putts and lower your scores.
