11 up as Green takes major glory Australian Hannah Green took a wire to wire victory at the Women's PGA Championship thus creating a truly remarkable statistic – The last eleven women’s major tournaments have seen eleven different winners. If that wasn’t enough, the last four winners have all been aged 23 or under! Coming into the tournament after a missed cut in her prior event, few gave Green a second glance until she stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a 4-under 68 on day one. There she stayed despite a wobble through the middle section on Sunday with bogies at 9, 11, and 12 to hold off defending champion Sung-Hyun Park by a single shot on 9-under. England’s Melissa Reid fired in a total six-under par to finish in a tie for 3rd and record her best major finish to date. |
