We had Club Crested towels and hats arrive a couple of weeks ago and due to the reaction and sales, we have brought in some more. In particular, the Scottish based theme with Saltire and Tartan trim hats and towels pictured below.

Priced at ONLY £15 each or a cap and towel combo for £27 these will go fast so call or pop in to reserve yours now.

We are waiting on logo headcovers for woods and putters which will arrive shortly as well as a top-up on logo clothing from Glenmuir.

Callaway demo day

Book your slot now

A reminder that our Callaway demo day is next Thursday 6th August.

This is your chance to be fitted for the latest Mavrik range as we are unable to use the studio for fittings ourselves.

The Callaway technician will help you out to maximize your consistency and increase your distance by ensuring you get the correct equipment suited to YOU.

We have spaces left so contact us to reserve your spot. This will be the only chance this year and if we dont get enough interest by Friday, we will need to look at postponing it.

Course update

Essential works

The course has been in fabulous condition and we have received some very complimentary emails of feedback from visitors this week as societies have started to play. David and his team deserve all the credit for their efforts in what has been a very unusual year.

The greens will be starting the coring programme next week but will repair very quickly at this time of year allowing more sustained play later in the season. Without this work which helps to break up diseases and aerate the soil, the greens would not be able to sustain their condition throughout the year so this is essential for the longevity of play.

David and the staff will be at full tilt next week coring, the greens staff would appreciate any help from volunteers to help shovel all the piles of cores removed from the greens which will allow the work to be carried out quicker.

Competition News

Its been a busy week for competitions...

With finals day coming up on Sunday and the gent's finals already established, the ladies play their semi-finals on Wednesday after the rain stopped play on Monday. We wish all competitors all the very best of luck in their respective categories.

Golf on Tour

The UK Swing begins

The British Masters finally gave European Tour fans something to cheer. Whilst the Tour had technically resumed with a couple of weakened fields in Austria, this was the first ‘proper’ European Tour event since lockdown began all those months ago. Renato Paratore was the eventual winner, with the young Italian going 62 holes before his first bogey on the 9th in the final round.

Paratore’s incredible golf came at a soggy Close House course, hosted by Lee Westwood, in the first of a six-tournament “UK Swing”. This week, players high enough in the World Rankings can choose between the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational or the English Open. Next week, it will be a choice between staying put for the English Championship or heading to San Francisco for the first Major of 2020; the PGA Championship. Things are about to get interesting!

Time to update your wedges?

That moment when you pitch the ball close to the pin and stop it on a dime for a tap-in putt is like no other. It dramatically reduces your score whilst looking awesome. As with all shots, it requires both technique and confidence, not to mention wedges with sharp grooves.

A recent survey highlighted that a third of golfers carry wedges that are over five years old. We appreciate that everyone has a club or two in their bag that they love but grooves will gradually deteriorate over time.

This European Tour challenge is pretty simple: pick your favourite club and play the entire hole with it. Close House was the venue ahead of last week's British Masters, but how did the players get on? There were certainly a few surprises!
